Experimental Results on Assessment of the Impact of Complex Combinations of Dynamic Effects from Surface and Underground Transport

Abstract

The article presents the results of a previously developed program [21, 22] for conducting field studies on the influence of vibration on buildings and structures arising from complex dynamic effects of surface and underground urban transport. The current regulatory framework in the field of transport vibration is examined, and the available practical results of vibration influence from three types of transport from each individual source of impact (tram, bus, metro) and with complex vibration effects (simultaneous) are analyzed. A pattern has been identified in the analysis of complex dynamic effects for predicting future events regarding crack development in buildings located in close proximity to sources of technogenic impact. The sources of vibrational impact are metro cars, trams, and buses moving in close proximity to buildings. Specialized equipment including a noise and vibration analyzer, recorder, and vibration tester was selected for vibration measurements.

To select the field site and conduct the experiment, an analysis of traffic load on surface and underground transport routes in Moscow was performed. Three of the most heavily loaded areas were selected for simultaneous vibration measurements from metro, tram, and automobile transport along Krasnoprudnaya, Paveletskaya, and Baumanskaya streets.
