Experimental Data on Rapid Loading of Steel Rigid Foundations in Transportation Construction

Abstract

Steel foundations are widely used in various sectors of industry and construction, including energy, telecommunications, and transportation infrastructure. One of the least studied external impacts is «rapid loading», which occurs when there is a sharp increase in load, where the rate of increase exceeds the rate of stress redistribution in the soil but does not cause dynamic effects. This paper presents experimental results aimed at evaluating the interaction of individual steel foundations with their base under rapid loading from operational loads of various levels. The study reveals significant changes in the stress-strain state of the force interaction between the foundation and its base under this type of external impact.
